the season we started to dream again, the season that Floriana supporters
returned in masses.

Freddie James Vella
It is with great sadness to inform you that Freddie Vella James has passed away. Freddie was one of the best footballers that wore the Floriana FC shirt. He will be remembered for the great success he had with Floriana FC especially when winning the triple crown in the season 1957/58 and the best MFA player in the 1958/59 season.
Freddie Vella James born on the 17th December 1933 at Birzebbugia and started playing with the Floriana minors at the age of 14. Between 1955 and 1967 he played for the first team as a defender and a midfielder. Vella James played also for the national team on the 8th of March 1959 against Tunisia in the Stade Municipale at Belvedere, a game that ended in a 0-0 draw.

«Флориа́на» — мальтийский футбольный клуб из города Флориана. «Флориана», выиграв 25 чемпионатов Мальты и 18 национальных кубков, является вторым по титулованности клубом своей страны. «Флориана» постоянный участник еврокубков, в общей сложности более 20 раз принимала участие в розыгрышах Кубка (Лиги) чемпионов, Кубка кубков и Кубка УЕФА, но пройти дальше второго раунда клубу не удавалось.
